So, what actually happens in therapy?
Well, we start with you: what’s happening in your life, what you’re finding difficult and what you’d like to be different. Sometimes there’s a particular knot to untangle. Sometimes it’s more of a drawer full of cables and you have no idea where to even begin.
I ask questions, offer observations and help you notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I’m warm and attentive, and I’m also direct. If something seems worth looking at more closely, I’ll bring it into the conversation; you’re welcome to question my take on things, too.
Your feedback matters, including telling me what feels helpful and what isn't working. This all helps in creating something unique that fits just right for YOU.
There’s room for laughter, tears, anger, numbness, confusion and other feelings that arrive in all kinds of inconvenient combinations. Dark humour, colourful language and the things you usually edit out are welcome, whether we meet online or in person.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are weekly or fortnightly. My usual hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 10am–8pm; other times may be possible by agreement, with different rates applying.
Sessions cost £65, paid in advance by BACS. I have limited £35 concession spaces for student counsellors and people on means-tested benefits.
If something would make sessions easier for you to access or take part in, please tell me. We can discuss what accommodations could help.
Curious about how we might work together? Contact me to arrange a free 15-minute Zoom call.
Send me a hello. Let’s see how we get on.
