Arriving by car and parking
Penrith is easily reached from the M6, A6 and A66. The nearest public car park is the pay and display Sandgate Car Park. It is approximately 120 metres from the office. There is free on-street parking available on the surrounding streets; please be aware that this is a disc zone and you are limited to 1 hour free parking as standard. Discs are available at the Queen Street Offices if you don’t have one already. Parking wardens are very active in Penrith! There is up to 3 hours free parking available at Penrith New Squares, on the other side of the town centre.
Arriving by public transport
Penrith Bus Station is also at Sandgate, approximately two to three minutes’ walk from the office. Local and regional services run from the surrounding area. Penrith Railway Station is on Ullswater Road, approximately half a mile away. The walk to the office usually takes around eight to ten minutes.
On arrival
If the front door is open, please take a seat in the reception area downstairs; I will collect you at the agreed time. If your appointment is out of standard office hours, the front doors will be locked and I will come down and collect you at your appointment time. If you are running late, please contact me to let me know.
Accessibility
My office is on the first floor and can only be reached by stairs. There is no lift in the building, so the office is not wheelchair accessible and may be unsuitable if you find stairs difficult. I recognise that this will prevent some people from attending in person. Please let me know about any access requirements before booking so that we can discuss whether online sessions would be more suitable.
Online
I offer online therapy sessions via Zoom for clients across the UK.
Once your appointment is booked, I will email you a Zoom link in advance. Please make sure you are in a warm, comfortable, private space where you are unlikely to be overheard or interrupted. It helps to log on a couple of minutes early so we can start on time.
A few practical notes
Use a stable internet connection if possible.
Headphones can help with privacy and sound quality.
Keep your phone on silent and have a drink or tissues nearby if you want them.
If the connection drops, rejoin using the same link; if needed, I will follow up by email to re-establish contact.
If you are unwell or living with fatigue, it can help to set up your space in advance so you can settle in without rushing.
Online work can be just as effective as in-person therapy and for some people it feels easier to talk from their own space. If you have access needs, online therapy may be a practical and more comfortable way to hold your sessions.
