Who do I work with?

“Would you work with someone like me?”

You might recognise yourself in these descriptions, or maybe you have something quite different you’d like to explore. There’s room for your experiences here, including any bits that don’t fit neatly into a list. This is not a case of forcing square pegs into round holes; I build your therapy around you.

I work one to one with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, with a particular interest in chronic illness, trauma, grief and changes in identity. We can also explore how you relate to other people, the roles you find yourself taking on and patterns you’d like to change.

Quiet people, outspoken people, sceptics, optimists, meticulous planners and people who see what happens when they get there. Metalheads, pop fans, football supporters, bookworms, people of faith and people with none. You might have strong opinions, struggle to know what you think, or be reconsidering things you were once quite certain about. I’m interested in getting to know you.

I’m curious about how you’ve come to be where you are, what’s difficult now and what you’d like to be different. You can expect warmth, honest conversation and questions that help us look a little closer. Humour, devastation, all kinds of complicated feelings and the things you usually keep to yourself are welcome.

I offer counselling in Penrith, Cumbria, and online across the UK. To get a feel for working together, contact me to book a free 15-minute Zoom call.
